Ricardo Rabago: The PCC Social Media Guy

Ya know PCC? The co-op store with all that organic produce and all natural food? Chances are if you’re reading this, you do. I bet then that you also know that they’re on Twitter. What I don’t think you know is that there’s a guy named Ricardo Rabago doing all that PCC tweeting. Recently, I had the great opportunity to meet him at Comcast Cares Day where we spent the day teaching non-profits how to use social media. I had a great time getting to know Ricardo and I can tell you this; the guy is absolutely hilarious. If you see him around, you should go talk to him!

Social Media:

6. Why do you like social media?
One of the coolest things about the rise of social media is meeting interesting people. I love hearing how others are using social media, sharing ideas with one another, and making human connections.

7. How do you utilize social media?
At PCC Natural Markets we use social media as an extension of our customer service being provided by our excellent store staff at the store level. It allows us to interact with our customers and hopefully build a stronger connection (relationship) and to better serve by helping solve customers’ problems and gain feedback about products and service when interacting with them in a social media environment.

8. What is one thing that mainstream population should know about social media?
It’s not the coolness of the technology that matters but the endless wealth of knowledge from your personal relationship network you have created using social media tools.

9. If people follow you on Twitter, what can they expect?
Great recipes, information that matters to you and your family for a healthy lifestyle and hopefully stellar customer service.

10. How would you describe the social media scene in Seattle?
Scintillating!

11. Do you remember your social media “wow” moment? What was it?
It started with podcasting back in October of 2005. It was at that point that I felt things had truly changed and the status quo in traditional media was coming to an end as we knew it.

12. Are you currently working on any projects which involve the use of social media? If so, what are they?
Don’t quote me on this, but local tweeps are planning a “Tweet Hop,” bringing local tech, music, fashion, and food under one big Tweet Hop (tweetup).

13. Are there any social media events or conferences in the future you would like to let  people know about?
Gnomedex 9.0 August 20 – 22, 2009: www.gnomedex.com/

Let’s talk.
